A California-based concert merchandise company has chosen Parkfield Business Centre in Stafford as the base for its new UK operation, with employees travelling from the United States to establish the business and plans to create around five local jobs during the next 12 months.

Unified Manufacturing, run by James Hill, works within the music and merchandise industry. The company provides merchandise, online shops and fulfilment services for artists and other businesses.

Its new UK operation will focus on collecting and selling surplus merchandise left over from concerts and tours across Europe. Rather than allowing good-quality clothing and other products to be thrown away or sent to landfill, the items will be sold online to music fans.

The company needed a practical base from which it could test the UK market without immediately committing to a large warehouse or a long commercial lease. Parkfield was able to provide suitable space in a central Stafford location, together with a simple and flexible way for the company to get started.

We worked with the Unified Manufacturing team to understand what they needed and agreed an initial three-month contract. This gives them time to establish the operation, put their systems in place and test demand before deciding on their longer-term requirements.

Employees are travelling from the United States to help set up the business and transfer the company’s existing experience into the new UK operation.

As the business develops, Unified Manufacturing expects to employ around five local people over the next 12 months. These roles are likely to include administration, online sales, stock handling, order processing and helping with the day-to-day running of the business.

This is exactly the type of company we want to attract to Parkfield. It is an established overseas business creating a new operation in Stafford, with the potential to create jobs, support local suppliers and bring additional spending into the town.

The move also shows how smaller, flexible offices can help businesses enter a new market without taking on more space and expense than they need at the start.

We are pleased Unified Manufacturing chose Parkfield as the base for its UK launch and look forward to seeing the business grow.

Demand for smaller offices at Parkfield is currently outstripping supply.
